Join us on an amazing 18-day journey to the summit of this trekking peak, which stands at 6,050 meters, and follow the best route for climbing Mera. In order to reach Mera’s highest point, one must take a less travelled path through the Khumbu region. Stunning sights abound as the trail climbs through picturesque Sherpa villages and verdant woodlands.
Mera peak also defined as a ‘trekking peak’ is one of highest trekking peak here in Nepal. Mera peak climbing is a relatively moderate, non-technical trekking peaks which is located in Khumbu region, Barun Subsection of the mahalangur Himalaya ranges in Makalu Barun Conversion Area in Eastern Nepal. Having 6,467m above sea level, the peak offers magnificent views of five tallest peaks, including world highest peak (8,848.86m), Mt.Kanchenjunga (8,685m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu(8,485m), and Cho Oyu (8,188m).
Climbing Mera Peak is a fantastic choice for any mountaineering expertise level. Because to its elevation, it is a difficult trekking peak, although only very basic technical climbing skills are needed. Before the actual summit, we will receive some basic mountaineering instructions from the seasoned guide of Nepal Lion Tour and Treks.
The Trail to Mera Peak Climbing
Mera Peak is considered to be the tallest peak trekking in Nepal. These 18 days of pure adrenaline and beautiful trail are sure to leave you stunned. Starting from a flight to Lukla, you trek all the way to Khame for the next 7 days. Here you will have your acclimatization day, and preparation to reach the Base Camp. Reaching the base camp, you will then climb all the way to the High Camp of Mera Peak.
Here, acknowledging the weather you will be safely summiting the peak. You will then be descending through the same trail taking you all the way to Lukla in just a couple of days. Thus, from Lukla, you will catch a flight back to Kathmandu ending this journey.

On the first day, you will arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport, where we will receive warm greetings and an introduction. Then, we will take you to your comfy hotel to rest for the day and refresh.

There are too many places in Kathmandu to visit in a day. So, we will visit the most famous sites, explore the city, and buy souvenirs. The highlight of this day is that you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu, like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bauddhanath, and many more, which hold religious significance.
Other historical sites include Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. We will rest for the day and drop you off at your hotel.

We will board an early flight to Lukla to begin our Mera Peak journey. The flight would be delightful and scenic. Once we arrive there, we will take a permit and head toward Chhuthang.
We will come across the scattered Sherpa settlements with Buddhist Mani walls and prayer wheels on our way. The trail connects to dense Rhododendron and Pine forests below the Kalo Himal Ridge. Finally, we will stay for the night in Chhuthang.

Moving forward, we will head to Thuli Kharka after breakfast. The trail now takes us to a steep hill climb to reach the top of the Zatrawala Pass. We can see scenic views of Kongdi Ri, Karyolang Peak, Number Himal, Lumding Himal, and many more.
Then, we will descend through Yak pasture lands and reach Thuli Kharka within a few hours. We will stay overnight here.

Once you enter the Hinku valley, you will get the first sight of your destination, Mera Peak. Moreover, several other snow-dotted peaks will be teasing the Everest skies, and the view is compelling.
After the view from the top, you must descend through a sloppy hill. Besides, Kothe lies one uphill climb away from the bank of the Hinku River; you will push for the last stretch of the day to reach Kothe.

The following day, our river-bordered trail guides us toward Gondishung. Walking in the Mera Peak’s shadow, you will reach Gondishung and have lunch there. A few walks away, you will see a two-century-old Buddhist Gompa, Lungsumgba Gompa.
People believe lighting the shrine at this Gompa successfully makes the Mera Peak Climbing. Here on, the trail is more accessible to trek so that you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. You will reach Thangnak with little effort and stay overnight there.

The trail moves towards Khare from Thangnak. Today is a challenging trek day as you must pass through the steep moraine routes. This trial will make posts near the nose of the Hinku Nap and Shar glaciers. Watch out on the track and walk carefully; the glacier’s way is the most difficult.
After that, a steep hill climb will end at Khare. This climb will get steeper than the earlier climbs. The 3 to 4 hours of the uphill climb will end after reaching Khare, where you can get as many Mera peak views as possible.

Today, we will ascend to the foot of Mera Peak, Mera Base Camp. The path is challenging and heads through steep trails of Mera Glacier. Your Sherpa crew will be there to arrange food and accommodation facilities once you reach Mera Base Camp.

Our returning trail commences on this day, starting with Kothe. We will move toward our destination after a delightful breakfast. We will also come across Thangnak on our way to Kothe. However, we won’t stay here like before as Kothe is just a few hours away from here.

Today’s trail is an uphill climb to Thuli Kharka from Kothe. The path traverses toward Hinku Valley through a forest. You are familiar with this place as we walked through it beforehand. Moreover, you can cover what you missed last time in Thuli Kharka.

The journey now heads toward Lukla. We will reach there going through the Zatrawala Pass once again. Before heading down to Lukla, you can enjoy the views there for a while. Relax in your room for the night in Lukla.

After spending the victorious night the next day, you’ll return to Kathmandu on the thirteenth day of your trek. Again, after around 40 minutes of a flight back to Kathmandu, you’ll arrive at your comfortable hotel, where you can relax for the day or take a quick nap.
Similarly, you can also take your time to explore the city on the last day. We’ll have a goodbye dinner at night with the whole trekking group.
