With the development in the field of tourism and bringing sustainable policies, Suraj Vaidya is now appointed (2018 November 2) as the coordinator of the ‘Visit Nepal 2020‘ campaign. In other words, it is a campaign where the Nepalese government has set an ambitious vision to boost tourist arrival by 2 million in 2020.
Many travel trade associations like Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) are in full support. In addition, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO), and Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) have been working to pursue the campaign jointly.
Regarding this wide vision, Vaidya (former president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry) will work as the vice-chairman of the program. He will be implementing the committee for Visit Nepal Year 2020 as per the ministry statement.
Also, Ghanashyam Upadhyay- spokesperson for MoCTCA, said that the national coordinator is the leadership post of the ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign. Certainly, the person in that post will have executive power. In the same vein, he proposed “It is now up to the national coordinator and his team to adopt and implement the best possible measures to make the tourism campaign grand and successful”.
