The trail to Pokalde Peak Trek

Pokalde Peak trail takes you deep inside the Everest Region, with some of the rare and beautiful sights to see. The trail starts with a trail to Everest Base Camp, as you start from Lukla. Trekking through various landscapes and witnessing the magic of Everest Base Camp.

You then also trek all the way to Kala Patthar for that extra view and then descend all the way back to Lobuche. From here you will join the trail to Pokalde Peak, passing through the Kongma La pass, you will reach to Pokalde Peak Base Camp.

Preparing for the summit push for a day, you will be summiting the peak in next few days. From there you will then descend from Tengboche to Lukla in next 3 days. From there you catch a flight back to Kathmandu ending this journey.

Embark on an exhilarating 18-day journey to conquer Phokalde Peak, a stunning 5,806-meter summit located in the heart of the Khumbu region of Nepal. Itinerary

Your first day will begin when we greet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team heartily welcomes you to our beautiful country. After a short introduction with our team members, we will drop you at your comfy hotel, where you’ll spend the night.

The next day, we will take you sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley. We will only be able to cover the major tourist attractions sights. You will be fascinated by the historical and religious heritage sites like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bauddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and many more.

The following day, after breakfast, we’ll begin our walk to the renowned Namche Bazaar. We will start walking on a level surface and gradually enter the uphill valley, followed by a downhill. Then, we’ll trek along the trail through beautiful pine forests and the Dudh Koshi river to Monjo Village. 

Here at Monjo, after we cross the suspension Hillary bridge, which is the highest bridge trekkers pass through, we will trek uphill to Namche Bazaar.

Here, we’ll see the beautiful snowy scenery of Mt. Everest from a distance once we climb Namche Bazaar. We’ll spend the night and relax after a long tiring day.

This day will allow you to adapt to the altitude of the capital of the Khumbu region, Namche Bazaar. Hence, strolling in the same area in a place like Khumjung or a two-hour climb to the Everest View Hotel (3880 m) would be an effective onset to adapt your body to a higher altitude.

 

Furthermore, you can visit the Tenzing Norgay Memorial to pay your respects in the Namche bazaar. As most of you are aware, he was the first person to climb Mount Everest along with Sir Edmund Hillary on 29 May 1953.

This trek’s beginning is flat, with a bit uphill to Kayangjuma. Then, the descending starts from where we oversee to cross the river, and at the end of the day, we will climb for about two and half hours to Tengboche. Throughout the trek to Phungi Thanga, you will see many heavenly views on the route with several climbs and descents. 

 

Then, the same route is followed by a long, steep, and little challenging climb to Tengboche. Moreover, this territory has the largest monastery in the Khumbu region, a much-visited destination. This adventurous trek will pass the entire day, so we’ll stay overnight here.

On this day, the hiking will initially start with easy descent, but we will slowly climb upwards. After climbing for a while, we will pass through a 5-7 minutes landslide zone. Next, traversing through the Imja Khola river, we’ll arrive at the Pangboche village, where you can see the remarkable sights of Mt. Ama Dablam. 

Moreover, Pangboche is the most significant Sherpas settlement in the Khumbu region. After walking for a few hours, we’ll arrive at Dingboche, where we’ll stay overnight.

Today, trekking through the snow-capped cliffs of Cholatse and Tabuchi, we will ascend steeply on the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. During the trek, we will find commemoratives of Sherpa climbers who lost their lives climbing the beautiful peaks. 

Then, after a few hours of walking through the valley, we’ll reach our destination for the day, Lobuche, where we’ll stay for the night.

Finally, after your hardships and dedication, you’ll come across your dream destination, the Everest Base Camp. However, foremost, you must cross the Khumbu Glacier, reaching Gorakshep. After this, the trip gets more challenging; you’ll be trekking through rocky terrains and icefalls. 

However, it will be worth it once you see the dazzling views of the mountain range from the Everest Base Camp. Afterward, we’ll descend to Gorakshep to spend the fantastic and relaxing cold night.

Beginning with an early morning climb, we will reach Kala Patthar, meaning black rock in Nepali, within 2 – 3 hours of ascent. When you get here, you’ll see beautiful sceneries of the mountain habitat everyplace you peek. 

Downwards will be the view of the stunning Khumbu Glacier, while overhead will be the incredible views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Changtse, and Mt. Lhotse. Again, we’ll be staying for the night after descending our way around to Lobuche.

Now, our trail to Pokalde Peak begins on the eleventh day. This walk isn’t going to be easy; there are rocky trails and challenging climbs. We will cross the famous Kongma-La Pass (5,545 m) following the path to Pokalde Peak Base Camp.

 

When you reach the top of the pass, you will capture the most beautiful view of the mountains in the Everest region. Then, we will descend to the Pokalde Base Camp and set our camp there.

Today, the trek will be a short distance to the High Camp. However, the trail is rougher and steeper than before, making you slow. Although the breathtaking views will take your mind off the exhaustion, you must keep walking as the trail is loose. 

 

Once you reach the high camp, you will find it more rural than the base camp since there aren’t any tea houses. We will set up a campsite and spend the night there.

Finally, you will enhance your mountaineering skills today after a challenging climb to Pokalde Peak. Once you get on top, your hardship will pay off with a sense of achievement and great insight into the Himalayas of Nepal. 

Later, we will descend to Chhukung and stay for the night. You can relax and sleep soundly.

Our returning trail begins now starting from Tengboche. We will descend toward Tengboche, crossing forests and rocky paths. Once we get there, we will stay overnight.

Our next stop is Monjo Valley before reaching Lukla to board the flight. We will climb toward Monjo crossing the Dudh Koshi Valley.

After spending the victorious night the next day, you’ll return to Kathmandu on the thirteenth day of your trek. Again, after around 40 minutes of a flight back to Kathmandu, you’ll arrive at your comfortable hotel, where you can relax for the day or take a quick nap.

 

Similarly, you can also take your time to explore the city on the last day. We’ll have a goodbye dinner at night with the whole trekking group.
