Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking is a fascinating trekking adventure that lets you view the whole Dhaulagiri Range at once. There will be trails leading to high passes like the French pass (5,360 m) and the Dhampus pass (5,200 m).
This trip is a beautiful adventure to the Himalayas of Nepal. However, physical fitness is an essential factor for a successful trekking experience. The trail passes through rocky paths, river banks, farmlands, and many more.

Our journey to Dhaulagiri Circuit trek is a long trek that takes us through high alpine pastures, uninhabited valleys, high windswept passes, forests, and cultivated terraced cliffs.
After crossing two passes – the French Pass at 5,360m and Dhampus Pass at 5,200m, the Dhaulagiri Base Camp at 4,740m- is a challenging trek that requires a high fitness level.
However, the rewards of this trek include stunning views of Tukuche Peak (6,920m), Dhaulagiri I (8,167m), Dhaulagiri ii (7,751m), Dhaulagiri III (7,715m), and Dhaulagiri V (7,618m).
The adventurous trail makes its way through villages and terraced farmland along rivers, gorges, glaciers, and moraine. With time to acclimatize before tackling the high passes, there is plenty of opportunities to take in the magnificent mountain views.

Itinerary
On the first day of your trip, you arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport. We will receive you from Tribhuwan International Airport. From here, we will drop you at your comfy hotel, where you can get refreshed. You can also explore the nightlights of the city.

We will board an early morning flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The flight will be scenic with 45 minutes duration. Once we arrive in Pokhara, we will move to Darbang by private vehicle via Beni. We will follow the route crossing the Kali Gandaki river to reach Beni, after which we will follow the Myagdi river to get to Darbang.

Today, we will climb to the village of Dharapani on our trail to Sibang. From Dharapani, we can see astounding views of mountains like Dhaulagiri massif, Gurja Himal (7193m), and Putha Hiunchuli (7246m). We will stay for the night in Sibang.

From Sibang, we descend to Gatti Khola and climb up to Muri’s village, where the Myagdi and Dhara rivers meet. We continue the trek, crossing the bridge over Dhola Khola and descending through the terraced farm fields and sparse settlements before arriving in Naura village. We will stay overnight at a tented camp Naura.

The following sunrise, we will move alongside the bank of Myagdi Khola through a grassy hill and a steep slope. We will then follow the up-and-down trail to Dobhan. Furthermore, we will continue to descend through a forest to Jyardan before climbing uphill to Lipshe. The route then enters the forested area before ascending to Dobhan.

We will trek toward the Italian Base Camp after a delightful breakfast. Today we will pass through the trail with oaks, bamboo, and pine trees forest. We can now get the best view of Tukuche Peak (6920m), Dhaulagiri Range, and other mountains from the Italian Base Camp. Overnight at a tented camp in Italian Base Camp.

We will stay in the Italian Base Camp for the day to acclimatize. You can explore the area and adjust your body to the temperature and altitude.

We will now trek through the rocky area on a steep slope before crossing the glacial moraines. We then reach a grassy area in a shallow valley, Japanese Base Camp. We will be rewarded with the west face of Dhaulagiri I (8167m) on one side and Tsaurabong Peak (6395m) on the other.

This day is the most challenging day of our trekking journey. We will carefully make our way up to the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, walking on the glacier, lateral moraine, and undulating surface of the glacier.
Once we reach there, we can see the stunning view of all the peaks of the Dhaulagiri range, along with a fantastic icefall descending from the Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak ridgeline. Overnight at a tented camp in Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

We will again take a day’s rest to acclimatize our bodies to the weather and altitude. We are at a height of over 4,700 meters now. So, you can rest or explore to pass the day.

We will now continue our journey through the trail on the north side of Chhondarban Glacier and gradually climb the steep hillside above the glacier. There comes a pathway that takes us to the French pass at 5,360 meters. After a bit of a descent, we will reach Hidden Valley.

This day is an extra one just in case our plans get delayed. There might be weather disturbances or any other issues.

We head towards Yak Kharka, crossing Dhampus Pass (5244m). Relishing the beautiful view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges in the background, we descend steeply to Yak Kharka through avalanche-prone slopes. We will stay for the night at a tented camp in Yak Kharka.

We will continue to the descent trail steeply from Yak Kharka towards Marpha, also known as Nepal’s apple capital. Passing through the whitewashed houses and paved streets and following the flow of the Kali Gandaki River, we move towards the windy town of Jomsom. Overnight at a lodge in Jomsom.

You will have an early flight to Pokhara on this day. Pokhara is the tourist hub of Nepal, so you will come across many fellow travelers as you explore the Lakeside streets. Besides, there are many pubs and restaurants to relax and eat delicacies.

Since our Dhaulagiri Circuit trek is over, we will fly back to Kathmandu. The flight is 45 minutes, and you can rest for the day. You also have the option to explore the city.
