Cholatse Peak Climbing 22 Days
Nepal
Trip Highlights:
- High Technical Difficulty: Cholatse is graded as a "TD" (Très Difficile) or D+ level climb. The route is highly technical, involving sustained mixed climbing on rock, ice, and highly exposed knife-edge ridges. It is a serious climb that requires advanced skills and experience with technical mountaineering equipment.
- Remote and Scenic Route: The expedition takes you through the stunning and less-crowded Khumbu and Gokyo valleys. The trek to base camp is an incredible journey in itself, offering spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the pristine Gokyo Lakes.
- Extended Acclimatization: A typical Cholatse expedition lasts around 20 to 24 days. The itinerary is meticulously planned with multiple acclimatization days to prepare climbers for the extreme altitude and physical demands of the climb.
- Multi-Day Summit Bid: The climb to the summit is not a single-day push. It involves setting up at least one high camp to stage the final ascent. Climbers must be prepared for long days of climbing on steep, exposed terrain with a focus on safety and technical precision.
- Mandatory Permits and Expertise: A Cholatse expedition requires an NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association) climbing permit, a Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, and a TIMS card. Due to the high level of technicality and risk, it is mandatory to be accompanied by a skilled, NMA-registered climbing guide.
